An automobile accident brings with it a lot of questions and uncertainty. When auto accidents result in loss of life, there is even more uncertainty with an incredible amount of emotional distress as a family attempts to grieve for the loss of loved ones.
If you or one of your loved ones is injured in a car accident, it’s important to know when the best time to hire an attorney is, and, in the modern world, evidence is being collected by the insurance company from the moment a claim is reported to them. What this means for an individual injured in an automotive accident is that every action or inaction you take will affect the outcome of your case.
On March 14, 2021, Porsha Branch, a 28-year-old mother and her three, young children were struck from behind by a drunk driver on FM 2920 near Gosling in Spring, TX. The impact of the accident was so great that it resulted in damage to seven cars. Ms. Branch’s vehicle caught fire at the scene, and all four members of the Branch family, including a seven-month-old, two-year-old and five-year-old, passed away. The Branch family suffered a great tragedy.
This is both disheartening and troubling as the number of deaths due to car accidents is on the rise in Texas.
In a recent article, released in early March, 2021, a study was conducted over a seven-day period that analyzed drivers on Houston roads. According to Texas State driving records, “Drivers would crash at least 2,777 times, and one in 40 of those incidents would end with someone being seriously injured, and one out of 11 incidents would end with a fatal car accident,” as it said in the investigative report.
During the week-long study, on Tuesday, at 11:43 p.m. just a few minutes before midnight, a man lost control of his Nissan Maxima. The car ended up wrapped around a tree, and the victim lost his life. The police report said speeding may have been a factor in the crash.
